Join our Chorus
The Capital City Chorus is always interested in bringing new members of all ages onto our risers. We would love to have you join your voice with ours! Our chorus members are united by a personal and shared commitment to great singing and entertainment, achieved with strong fellowship and camaraderie. Previous singing experience in a group is not required. For many of our members, joining our chorus was their first singing or even musical experience!
To become a member there are three steps:
- ATTEND - Join us as our guest and participate in several rehearsals to see if singing with us is for you. We recommend coming to at least three to get a good sense of what our community is like.
- AUDITION - Pass a vocal audition by singing a traditional barbershop song in quartet formation. You will be given plenty of time and as much coaching and support from our music team as you need.
- REGISTER - Following your successful audition, you will be invited to register as a member of our chorus and our parent organization, the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS). There is an annual membership fee for both the Chorus and the BHS.
For some, the idea of auditioning can be daunting. Please know that every man that is a part of our chorus has stood in your shoes! We will do all we can to help you prepare.
Once you are a member you will be expected to learn the repertoire and come to rehearsal ready to sing. We would not expect you to sing in any given performance before both you and the music team are confident that you are ready.
