Sean has been an avid Barbershopper since 2007. Starting in a chorus based out of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Sean has made a point of taking advantage of every Barbershop opportunity presented to him. With twenty years of experience as a musician and ten years as a Barbershopper, he has a varied musical background including violin, piano, choral music and musical theatre. Having dedicated his life to learning, Sean has travelled whenever possible to learn from the greats, pursuing new ideas and different perspectives. With over four years of enrollment in Directors College at the Barbershop Harmony Society’s Harmony University, as well as private conducting instruction and weekend learning programs, Sean brings a wealth of experience and passion to this art form.
Before moving to Ottawa, Sean was the Associate Director and Baritone Section leader for the Saskatoon Chimo Chordsmen for 4 years. He also had the pleasure of directing the Harmony 2 Go Chorus at the Midwinter convention in Orlando Florida for the Youth Festival. Sean has been actively involved in barbershop since joining and served as Member at Large and VP of Music with the Chimo Chordsmen. An active quartet singer, Sean has sung in the Executives Quartet (3-time Alberta Quartet Champions) and The Sharp Flats collegiate quartet as well as singing in various pick-up quartets for professional and theatrical events across Western Canada. Sean currently holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan.
Sean joined the Capital City Chorus in November 2016 and was appointed Baritone Section Lead in January 2017. The Capital City Chorus is grateful that Sean has accepted the position of Interim Music Director and we look forward to working with him as we begin the next chapter in the Chorus’ history.
