Fellowship

Lift your voice in song with men of all ages, from all walks of life. Our ranks include CEOs, doctors, attorneys, engineers, teachers, police officers, students, retirees, government, and so many others. We live throughout the entire Ottawa region (Rockland to Stittsville to Kemptville to Chelsea). What we have in common is our love of four-part harmony, performed at the highest possible quality level, and a desire to share our music with others.

When you join our chorus, you join a brotherhood full of men who care about you, and miss you when you're not at practice. We come together in many events and performances throughout the year specifically to give back to our community by performing at hospitals, nursing homes, high-schools, churches and various civic events.

Each September, the men of the Capital City Chorus participate in a weekend long retreat to Camp Smitty, a facility of the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa which serves the needs of underprivileged youths. The function of the retreat is to build buildings, complete renovations, do annual up-keep and maintenance to the facilities for free through donation of time and labour and often resources. The value of renovations performed at Camp Smitty over the past 10 years has been assessed at over $500,000. The secondary purpose of the retreat, through working side by side on a project, is to build and strengthen our own internal fellowship and community.

This brotherhood also extends well beyond our chapter, to all the men in the entire Barbershop Harmony Society. Anywhere you go, there will always be a chapter ready to receive your visit and sing some songs with you.
